Today one Diva just wasn't enough for me. This piece is a little more expensive in my Etsy Shop because it took a lot more time to create three Diva's than it did to create one. I really love the look of the three faces together and with this piece I was able to incorporate all my favorite colors!
For the hair on these Diva's I used a cross stitch and then outlined almost the entire face with a fine black thread. I seriously feel like I'm drawing with thread, it's got my mind ticking away at other designs I want to create!

"I've been bit by the EMBROIDERY BUG"
For the love of a needle and thread(O:
I have been so busy with my embroidery. I really feel like I've been bitten by the "Embroidery Bug".
I've been making more dazzling diva's" which I will post photos of when they are complete. I have all these visions in my head of things I want to do with this medium. I've even thought about embroidering a journal. (I know this has been done but it never triggered the ah ha........wowza factor within me before) Why are there only 24 hours in a day. There is so much I want to do and not enough time. How cool would that be to actually embroider illustrations and writings onto a fabric and have a fabric journal. That would have to be a life project as it would be very time consuming but so rewarding to look through! Sorry to ramble and also for the post with no photos. I promise some photos of my latest soon!!

"Dazzling Diva" Barrette Number One
This "Dazzling Diva" barrette is completely hand embroidered on felt which lays atop a sturdy aluminum base. Silk embroidered hair is embellished with flowers of tiny glass seed beads. The barrette measures 4" X 2" and the clip on the back measures 2 1/2". All "Dazzling Diva" barrettes are one of a kind original designs so each barrette is a unique piece of original art. I had so much fun creating this diva!!
It's a funky accessory with a twist of sophistication that looks amazing worn casually or dressy.

Ice Sculptures in Waukesha Wisconsin
Besides the fact that is was 15 degrees while we were walking around Historic downtown Waukesha today, we saw some beautiful ice sculptures being worked on along the curb.

Winter White Barrette
This Winter White Barrette has been created with 3 layers of felt and embellished with silk embroidery thread, fresh water pearls and multi-toned glass crystal beads.
Between the layers of felt is a thin layer of aluminum to hold it's shape and add sturdiness to the piece. The clip on the back has been sewn on. There is also a thin layer of glue between the sheets of felt. This piece is solid and sure to be around for years.
This is a one of a kind original design. The barrette measures approximately 4" X 2" and has a clip on the back that measures 2 1/2".
This is a photo of my daughter Emma Grace (my little fashionista) as she wears my Multi Media Headband.

Urban Flower Barrette One
As I add to my line of hair accessories I decided to design some barrettes. This barrette was hand sewn out of some fabrics I brought back from India. It's quite stunning in a rustic kind of way. It shimmery texture slightly changes color with the light.I embellished the flower with metallic threads and glass beads. Between the two pieces of fabric I put a thin piece of brass which gives the barrette its weight and shape and the clip on the back has been sewn into the fabric. I like the frayed edged on this piece. I wanted it to be dressy but rustic at the same time. I guess that makes it the Urban Flower Barrette I was going for.

Urban Headband 4
With fabrics in colors of purple's, pinks and blues this headband was made. I embellished it with glass beads, metallic threads and a textured wool. I also eased a delicate pink feather in behind the flower that I think finished it off and gave it that extra special touch. This headband is all hand sewn and is a one of a kind original piece. It feels good to be filling up my Etsy Shop again!

Urban Flower Headband 3
Once again I was drawn to rich colored fabrics at the fabric shop. I absolutely love the combination of reds and oranges with hints of blue to accent. These are a few photos of my latest piece on Etsy.

"Urban Flower Headband"
Here are a few photos of today's creation(O: I actually REALLY like this one! It's funny because I am making two of each design so my girls and I can wear them as advertisement. But that's it..... just two of each (one for my shop and one for advertising) and they will all be different. Back to the drawing board or actually, I think I'm going to go to the fabric shop......time to bundle up, it's freezing out there!!
I hope everyone had a good week, enjoy the weekend!

Multi Media Headband
This headband is one I made with a combination of fabric and silk flowers. The fabric flower is embellished in the center with glass beads. I surrounded the center by sewing on some orange ceramic beads. The red nylon fibers add a touch of whimsy to this piece. A few square beads sit in the center of the silk flowers that I outlined with metallic gold puff paint. I got out all my supplies on this piece and had an absolute ball making it! On one side of the headband there is even an orange feather to tie in the ceramic beads and of course add a little pizazz. I had to call this one the Multi Media Headband because it literally has a little bit of everything on it.
This is one of those pieces that would look amazing with just about anything. It’s chock full of color and bursting with style(O:

Flowertop Headbands 2011
Pink Shimmer Headband
Green and Yellow Headband |
Silver Shimmer Headband |
Funky Shimmer Headband |
It’s seems as if 2011 is off to a slightly different start for me. Usually I am drawing or painting flower top ladies on canvas or in my journals. Something has steered me in the direction where I am now creating headbands so we can all actually “be” flower top ladies. Each piece is a unique, one of a kind original design. If there is one thing I love it’s to keep things fresh and interesting, so making each piece individually will keep things just that. It will also allow the person wearing it to be the one and only! There is something about wearing flowers in your hair! I can’t think of anything prettier than having a row of flowers curved across the top of a woman’s head. Think about all the head dresses that were worn back in the 19th century. This is a way to add a little something to your outfit whether it’s with jeans of a black cocktail dress; these headbands look amazing with everything!
The flowers that lay across the top of my headbands and barrettes are ones I’m making with found fabrics. Sometimes I mix and match fabrics to make a more funky and colorful headband. Then sometimes I like to keep the same fabric for each flower that will give the headband a more classic sophisticated look. I found some beautiful nylon yarns that have little fibers sticking out that look great when I incorporate them into the flowers. It gives the flowers a more whimsical and rustic look.
The ladies you see here that have the headbands displayed upon are ones I made from Styrofoam heads that I found at Sally Beauty Supply. My dogs got a real kick out of them at first. Once I painted the faces on them, my dogs would just sit and bark at them until they realized they weren’t real. I thought this would be a nice way to display my new headbands as well as using them when I photograph them.
These Headbands are available now in my Etsy Shop!!
