The LOOK of my dolls is evolving

In the studio this week I've been changing things up a bit. These are the two new art dolls I've made. I decided to exaggerate the eyes when I painted their faces. I also hand painted their clothing instead of using fabric. As I continue to explore doll artistry I'm slowly ironing out the kinks of my design. The look of my Wee Bitty Dolls is evolving. I kind of like these big eyes! For more info on my dolls visit my shop:

She's my fave!

I think she's my favorite doll yet! The dress may be one color but there are so many  details embroidered into the felt to create dimension and texture to the dress. The neutral palette in her garment is very becoming with her skin and hair tones. Her gold collar adds the perfect amount of sparkle!

Working in Stages

Now that I've figured out the design of my dolls I'm going to work on them in stages. I spent the last few days constructing the bodies of 11 dolls and then painted the faces, shoes, socks & bloomers. I experimented with colored pencils on the faces and I really like the more muted tones. Next will be hair and clothing. I've got to get rid of all those (pipe cleaner) Mohawks.

I'm crazy about details!

Isn't she precious! All her clothes are custom made. I had so much fun with all the details in her coat. I added some fur around her hood to frame her face, then 3 pleats on the back of the coat and 2 tiny pockets. She also has the tiniest pair of jeans on with laced up boots to match her coat.

Red

You may want to call this little doll Red. Her hand sewn coat is embellished with tiny little pockets. She also has a polka dot skirt, black scarf and red Mary Janes.

Tiny Dress

Today I created a doll dress pattern. I started to embroider this tiny dress with some glass beads I found at a vintage shop on Friday.

I want feet!

I've been working on a design for my Wee Bitty's where these sweet little dolls can have feet. I love to add little boots or shoes, socks or striped tights to outfit these little dolls. I think I've figured out my design. Here's the first doll with feet in the works.
Now for the outfit! Let the embellishments begin.
